20th Century Fox Original Italian 55x57 Special formated four sheet. Art by Mancinelli Linen backed.Original 20th Century Fox Specially formatted Italian four-sheet (55 x 57) for the Elia Kazan film A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN (1945.) The movie is the first film of the Greek-born American director. It stars James Dunn, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film. And also Dorothy McGuire, Joan Blondell and a quite wonderful Peggy Ann Garner. Garner's portrayal of the young girl in the story won her a juvenile Oscar from the Academy. The film is based on an American novel A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith first published in 1943. It relates the coming-of-age story of its main character, Francie Nolan, against a backdrop of tenement life in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, in the early 20th century. The poster has art by Mancinelli and quite exceeds any of the U.S. posters for the film. This is a large format poster, and will require some space. The poster had some issues but for the most part was in good shape. It has been magnificently linen backed.
