Next up is this seldom seen stunningly beautiful original Belgian movie poster from the first release of Robert Stevenson's moody Victorian romance,
Jane Eyre
. Starring Orson Welles, Joan Fontaine, Margaret O'Brien and Peggy Ann Garner the film was based on the classic Charlotte Bronte novel. This poster is from the original release of the film in Belgium. It was most likely released shortly after the war in Europe (1946 or 1947) since in is printed on the back of an ordnance map and in the smaller post-war format to conserve paper. I have only seen two other  examples of this poster come up for auction in the past. There is a theatre snipe affixed to the top of the poster which probably can be removed by a professional restorer but I think it adds to the charm of the poster. This poster is in great condition for its age with very strong paper and basically no defects.  It almost never comes up for sale or auction and would make a great addition to anyone's classic movie poster collection.
This particular poster was purchased at the
Christie's South Kensington Vintage Film Posters Auction
in March 1998. It was part of the
Zreik Collection
and is listed on page 88 (lot 455) of the auction catalog.

CONDITION:
Very Good Condition. Theatre snipe attached to top white border which may or may not have been partially trimmed. Slight overall yellowing of paper. Printed on back of a map. Folded as originally issued, this poster has been stored flat for over 20 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube.
