    Description

    One
    mason bee
can do the pollinating work of 100 honeybees!
    and they do not sting....
I have had Mason bees for about 15 years. My wife ordered a tube through the mail, and i made her a house... thinking it was a waste of time. But I was sold the very first spring!  These bees absolutely made our fruit orchard thrive.
Since that time my bees have multiplied a thousand fold, from one little tube. I made houses for them, then had so many I offered them locally. A few years ago, we had a honey bee die off, leaving many orchards without pollinators. I sold so many filled "bee condos" I could not keep up with demand.
Each house will be the same as the one in the photos, although every piece of wood has its own charm, so there may be slight differences due to knots in the wood. I make these one by one in my shop, this is not a massed produced house, where every one looks the same. plenty of other sellers offer cookie cutter houses, I am not one of those. The houses are not supposed to be perfect copies of the one before it.
For the past several years I have offered my custom bee houses here on Ebay, with a starter block built in. Those sold out quickly..... but I decided to make more custom houses with a small shelf below them, where I usually had my live cocoon block. This will allow you to place your own starter tube right where it needs to bee....  when your mason bees emerge, they will immediately begin filling this house up, ready for a explosion of bees next years. In a few years, you will have more bees than you thought possible!
My houses are made from aged Oregon Fir trees, sheath in red cedar, top by a cedar shingle roof. Mason bees will not use cedar as the nesting hole, as cedar has natural elements to ward off insects. But the fir used as the bore holes is absolutely the best. Aging it makes the wood more attractive to the bees. Because it is aged wood, there will shallow cracks in the wood. Each house will be different in subtle ways, because every piece of wood is different.
I have drilled a hole in the back of the house so it can be hung easily.
    Backyard
    mason bees
    : All the pollination
    benefits
, no sting. ... In this case,
    mason bees
, so named because they build their nests using dabs of mud to pack around each egg. These gentle, solitary
    bees
    are pollinating powerhouses.
I have sold many bee houses to teachers, who use them as teaching tools in the classroom. No worry about stings. These gentle bees will just do the work and have a single solitary purpose, to find the flowers to gather pollen and lay eggs. Each hole will be filled with about 5 cocoons. There are 39 holes in my houses. In a few seasons you will have thousands of mason bees going crazy pollinating your trees and flowers!
I will include instructions on where to place your house for best production.
Order as many as you like for yourself, as gifts or teaching aids. I will combine shipping.
Shipping is for USA lower 48, all other addresses will be calculated.
